More than a QR code

A standard QR code opens a page. SafeReach knows where it was scanned, lets customers reach the right team privately, and makes sure every issue is followed through.

Knows where it was scanned

Each tag belongs to a specific outlet, zone or aisle, so customers see information that applies where they're standing — and your team knows exactly where to go.

Private, two-way conversations

Customers ask for help or raise an issue without sharing a phone number, and choose whether to stay anonymous or request a follow-up.

Routed, owned and escalated

Every case reaches the responsible team, gets an owner, and escalates automatically if the agreed response time is missed.

Tracked to closure, measured over time

Customers confirm whether their issue was solved, and managers see recurring themes by outlet, department and time of day.

The SafeReach Retail Suite

Four solutions for supermarkets and retail chains. Each runs on its own or alongside the others, and starts as a pilot at a single outlet.

Solution 1

Promotion Navigator

Customer experience, promotions and revenue growth

Where the tag goes
At the store entrance
How it works
Customers scan the SafeReach tag at the entrance to open an up-to-date list of every active promotion at that outlet — no app download needed. They can search or filter offers by category and see each product's image, promotional price, eligibility conditions and validity period, along with exactly where to find it in the store.
The problem it solves
Customers miss relevant promotions, struggle to find advertised products, or discover that an offer doesn't apply at their outlet.

What customers can do

  • Browse, search and filter this outlet's live offers by category
  • See the promotional price, conditions and validity period at a glance
  • Find each item's exact spot — for example Aisle 4 → Bay 3 → Shelf 2 — including promotional displays
  • Save offers to a shopping checklist
  • Privately ask for help if a promoted item can't be found

Why SafeReach, not a standard QR code

A QR code linking to a leaflet can list offers. SafeReach adds outlet-specific context, private assistance, and tracked resolution when an offer is unavailable, unclear or displayed incorrectly.

Pilot targets

Customer
20–30% less time spent locating promoted items
Operational
15–25% fewer promotion-location enquiries to staff
Financial
2–5% increase in promoted-product conversion among users, measured as incremental contribution after discounts

Built-in safeguards

  • Promotions expire automatically at the end of their validity period, so customers never see an out-of-date offer
  • Offers and eligibility rules are published per outlet, so customers only see promotions that apply where they are
  • Staff update shelf locations when displays move, and customers can privately flag a missing, mislocated or out-of-stock item

Effort & pilot timeline

Medium effort · pilot at one outlet in 2–3 months

Solution 2

Price & Product Finder

Price transparency, store navigation and product availability

Where the tag goes
In every aisle
How it works
A SafeReach tag in each aisle opens an outlet-specific page with two options: Scan Barcode and Find a Product. Customers scan a product's barcode with their phone camera — right in the browser — to see its current selling price, any applicable promotions and qualifying conditions, or search by name to get its exact aisle, bay and shelf, starting from the aisle they're in. If an item isn't available locally, they can see which other branches show stock.
The problem it solves
Missing price labels, hard-to-find products and wasted trips when an item is out of stock — plus the cost of buying and maintaining dedicated price-check machines.

What customers can do

  • Scan a barcode in the browser to see the current price and any promotions
  • Search by product name for its exact aisle, bay and shelf
  • If it's unavailable here, see other branches showing stock, with when that stock was last updated
  • Ask a branch to confirm availability before travelling
  • Privately report a price mismatch, missing label or unavailable product — and track the response

Why SafeReach, not a standard QR code

A generic QR code can open a scanner page. SafeReach ties every enquiry to the specific outlet and aisle, then lets customers privately report a price mismatch, missing label or unavailable product and follow the response.

Pilot targets

Customer
Price shown within 5 seconds of a successful scan; 20–30% less time spent finding products
Operational
20–35% fewer routine price and location enquiries to staff
Financial
Fewer price-check terminals to buy, install and maintain — measured as net savings after software, connectivity and support costs
Revenue
Purchases recovered through alternative-branch referrals and relevant product suggestions, tracked end to end

Built-in safeguards

  • Prices come straight from your pricing system and follow the same rules as checkout — including multibuy and member offers
  • Branch stock always shows when it was last updated, and clearly separates reported stock from confirmed availability
  • Manual barcode entry and product search cover damaged barcodes, variable-weight labels and weaker phone cameras
  • Assisted price checks stay available for customers without a suitable smartphone; physical scanners are reduced only once adoption and the full cost comparison are proven

Effort & pilot timeline

Medium–high effort · pilot in 3–6 months, depending on how ready your pricing, inventory and shelf-location data are

Solution 3

Customer Voice & Care

Customer feedback, service recovery and continuous improvement

Where the tag goes
At exits, checkouts and service counters
How it works
A dedicated SafeReach feedback tag opens a short feedback and assistance menu. Customers can rate their visit, recognise an employee, suggest a product, or report issues such as long queues, cleanliness, damaged goods or poor service — anonymously, or through a private conversation with the responsible team, with photos and an optional receipt reference. Every case is acknowledged, given an owner and kept up to date, while managers review recurring themes by outlet, department and time of day.
The problem it solves
Conventional surveys collect opinions but rarely resolve individual problems — or show customers that anything was done.

What customers can do

  • Rate a visit, recognise a staff member, or request a product the outlet doesn't stock
  • Report queues, cleanliness, damaged goods or service issues, with photos
  • Make a lost-and-found enquiry without publishing personal details
  • Send damaged-product and return enquiries straight to the service team
  • Get automatic escalation when an agreed response time is exceeded
  • Use it in Sinhala, Tamil or English, and confirm whether the response actually solved the problem

Why SafeReach, not a standard QR code

A standard survey records a response. SafeReach supports private dialogue, routing, escalation and tracked closure — turning feedback into accountable action.

Pilot targets

Customer
90% of service cases acknowledged within the published response window
Operational
20–30% faster median resolution, and 10–20% fewer repeat complaints in targeted categories
Financial
Handling cost per case, and repeat visits among consenting customers who received service recovery, measured

Built-in safeguards

  • Anonymous feedback is kept separate from cases where a customer asks for a follow-up
  • Forms ask only for what's needed, keeping unnecessary personal information out
  • Abusive submissions are filtered and moderated before they reach your team
  • Published response windows with automatic escalation, and themes reported with their sample size so a handful of ratings can't mislead

Effort & pilot timeline

Low–medium effort · pilot in 6–10 weeks

Solution 4

Scan & Fast Checkout

Checkout speed, queue reduction and basket accuracy

Where the tag goes
At the entrance, and a dedicated fast-checkout counter
How it works
Customers scan products with their phone camera as they shop — or search for them — and build a running basket that shows each item's price and the total. When they're done, they generate a single checkout QR. A dedicated fast-checkout cashier scans it to load the basket, verifies the physical items, takes card or cash payment at the counter and issues the receipt.
The problem it solves
Long queues at peak times, and customers who can't see what their basket costs until they reach the till.

What customers can do

  • Scan products with the phone camera, or search when a barcode won't read
  • See each item's price and a running basket total while shopping
  • Generate one checkout QR for the whole basket
  • Pay by card or cash at a dedicated fast-checkout counter
  • Get the usual receipt after payment

Why SafeReach, not a standard QR code

A generic QR code can link to a shopping list. SafeReach ties the basket to the specific outlet and its current prices, hands it to the cashier as one verifiable reference, and lets customers privately raise a price or item issue that the team tracks to resolution.

Pilot targets

Customer
Shorter checkout time for users, measured against regular lanes during the pilot
Operational
Transactions per hour at the fast-checkout counter versus a regular lane, measured during the pilot
Financial
Staff time per transaction and basket size among users, measured as net effect after system costs

Built-in safeguards

  • Payment always happens at the cashier — the phone never takes payment, so existing payment and fraud controls stay as they are
  • The cashier checks the physical items against the basket before payment, catching missed or mis-scanned items
  • Basket prices come from the same pricing system and rules as checkout, so the total matches what's charged
  • Regular checkout lanes stay open for anyone who prefers them or doesn't have a smartphone

Effort & pilot timeline

Effort and timeline scoped with each retailer — mainly depends on integration with your point-of-sale system

How a pilot works

Start small at a single outlet, measure against agreed targets, then scale what works.

  1. 1

    Scope

We agree the solution, the pilot outlet and the targets to measure, and check that the pricing, inventory or location data it needs is ready.

  2. 2

    Set up

SafeReach tags go up at the entrance, aisles, checkouts or service points, and your team is set up to receive, own and resolve cases.

  3. 3

    Run & measure

Customers use it in store while results are tracked against the agreed targets.

  4. 4

    Review & scale

We review the results together and decide whether to extend to more outlets or add another solution.
